HOW TO FLASH A BIOS

HOW TO MAKE A FLASH DISK IN DOS

1) Go to pure DOS (Not from Windows!)
2) Go to: Start > Shutdown > Restart in DOS
3) Place a new floppy disk
4) Type: C:\>format a: /s
5) Return to Windows
6) Open My Computer window
7) Double click on the Floppy Disk Icon (A)
8) There will be 4 files: (Command.com) (Drvspace.bin) (Io.sys) (Msdos.sys)
9) Delete (Drvspace.bin)
10) Extract your (***.exe) or (***.zip) replacement BIOS to your floppy disk
11) Check that now there will be 8 files: (Abitfae.bat) (Awdflash.exe) (Command.com) (Io.sys) (***.bin) (***.txt) (Msdos.sys) (Runme.bat)
12) You're done

HOW TO MAKE A FLASH DISK IN Win95, Win98, Win98SE

1) Open My Computer window
2) Place a new floppy disk
3) Right click on the Floppy Disk Icon (A) and choose Format from the shortcut menu
4) Check Complete and Copy System Files
5) Double click on the Floppy Disk Icon (A)
6) There will be 4 files: (Command.com) (Drvspace.bin) (Io.sys) (Msdos.sys)
7) Delete (Drvspace.bin)
8) Extract your (***.exe) or (***.zip) replacement BIOS to your floppy disk
9) Check that now there will be 8 files: (Abitfae.bat) (Awdflash.exe) (Command.com) (Io.sys) (***.bin) (***.txt) (Msdos.sys) (Runme.bat)
10) You're done

HOW TO MAKE A FLASH DISK IN WinME

1) Open My Computer window
2) Place a new floppy disk
3) Right click on the Floppy Disk Icon (A) and choose Format from the shortcut menu
4) Check Complete
5) Go to: Start > Configuration > Control Panel > Install/Uninstall Program > Start Disk
6) Open My Computer window
7) Double click on the Floppy Disk Icon (A)
8) Delete all files except: (Command.com) (Io.sys) (Msdos.sys)
9) Extract your (***.exe) or (***.zip) replacement BIOS to your floppy disk
10) Check that now there will be 8 files: (Abitfae.bat) (Awdflash.exe) (Command.com) (Io.sys) (***.bin) (***.txt) (Msdos.sys) (Runme.bat)
11) You're done

or...

1) Open My Computer window
2) Place a new floppy disk
3) Right click on the Floppy Disk Icon (A) and choose Format from the shortcut menu
4) Check Complete
5) Open an Explorer window and browse to the C:\Windows\Command\EBD folder (EBD stands for Emergency Boot Disk)
6) Select the (Command.com) and (Io.sys) files
7) Drag these two files onto the Floppy Disk Icon (A) in the My Computer window
8) Extract your (***.exe) or (***.zip) replacement BIOS to your floppy disk
9) Check that now there will be 7 files: (Abitfae.bat) (Awdflash.exe) (Command.com) (Io.sys) (***.bin) (***.txt) (Runme.bat)
10) You're done

HOW TO MAKE A FLASH DISK IN Win2000

1) You can download a straight DOS image
2) Place a new floppy disk
3) Double click your DOS image program
4) When it has finished open My Computer window
5 Double click on the Floppy Disk Icon (A)
6) Delete all files except: (Command.com) (Io.sys) (Msdos.sys)
7) Extract your (***.exe) or (***.zip) replacement BIOS to your floppy disk
8) Check that now there will be 8 files: (Abitfae.bat) (Awdflash.exe) (Command.com) (Io.sys) (***.bin) (***.txt) (Msdos.sys) (Runme.bat)
9) You're done

1) Go to: Start > Shutdown > Restart
2) Delete key
3) BIOS: Load Fail-Safe Defaults
4) Advanced BIOS Features: First Device: Floppy Disk
5) Advanced BIOS Features: Video BIOS Shadow: Disable
6) Advanced Chipset Features: System BIOS Cacheable: Disable
7) Save and Exit
8) Boot Flash Disk
9) A:\>Dir (to check the correct 8 or 7 files)
10) A:\>Runme
11) You will see three screens:

A) SCREEN---------------------------------------------
!Please DO NOT run this batch file under Windows!
---------------------------------------------------------

12) Enter

B) SCREEN------------------------------------------------------
Please make sure of the following:
1) You have made a CLEAN boot from your floopy disk,
i.e. NO autoexec.bat and config.sys files are loaded.
2) The BIOS file you are trying to upgrade is correct
for your board, otherwise you will get the unknown failure.

!Be sure the current PC system is pure without
any resident program!
------------------------------------------------------------------

13) Enter

C) SCREEN-------------------------------------
!Be sure you are ready to update the BIOS!

14) Enter

EXIT Now you can exit in three ways:

TOTALLY SECURE

15) F10 Exit
16) Remove boot disk
17) Power Off
18) Unplug
19) Discharge the CMOS for 30 seconds
20) Reset the jumper
21) Powercord
22) Power On
23) Delete key
24) Your BIOS Settings
25) You're done

TOTALLY SECURE WITH CLEAR CMOS

15) F10 Exit
16) A:\>clrcmos.com
17) Enter
18) Remove boot disk
19) Reset
20) Delete key
21) Your BIOS Settings
22) You're done
